CRNA Schools by Application Deadline

By month lists every program under the month its deadline usually falls, so you can plan any cycle. Upcoming lists the deadlines still ahead in date order. When a program’s date has passed and next year’s isn’t posted yet, it shows an estimate based on last year’s date. Timeline

When Do CRNA School Applications Open?

Most CRNA applications open 3 to 4 months before the deadline. August is the most common opening month. The typical program then closes applications 9 months before its class begins, so start preparing 12 to 18 months ahead.

9 months

Typical time from final deadline to the first day of class (range: 2 to 19 months)

~3.5 months

Typical time an application stays open, from opening date to deadline

May

Most common start month (56 programs), followed by August (35) and January (29)

Interview timing varies. Many programs invite applicants and fill seats as applications arrive, so the closer you submit to the deadline, the fewer seats may be left. See the step-by-step plan in the CRNA application timeline.

Deadline types

Priority, Final and Rolling Deadlines

Programs use three kinds of deadlines. Knowing which one a program uses tells you how early you really need to apply.

19

Priority deadline

An earlier date that gets your application reviewed first, usually for the first round of interviews. Programs that set one often fill most of the class from priority applicants. Treat it as your real deadline.

153

Final deadline

The last day the program accepts applications for the cycle. Programs that list a single date often still review files as they arrive, so submitting weeks ahead helps.

15

Rolling or space-available

The program reviews applications as they come in until the class is full, either instead of a deadline or after it. Seats go quickly, so apply as soon as the application opens.

Counts are programs in the CRNA School Finder: 153 post at least one dated deadline, 19 of them also set a priority date, and 15 review applications on a rolling basis.

For aspiring CRNAs

When Should I Apply to CRNA School?

As early as you can submit a strong application. These steps keep you ahead of every deadline on your list.

  1. Start 12 to 18 months before you want to begin. Most deadlines fall about 9 months before the start date, and you need time for the GRE (if required), CCRN, shadowing and references.

  2. Aim for the priority deadline when a program has one. It is the surest way to be reviewed in the first interview round.

  3. Submit as soon as your application is complete. Many programs review applications and schedule interviews as they arrive, even when they list a single final deadline.

  4. Leave time for NursingCAS. 63 programs use it, and NursingCAS must receive and verify your transcripts before a program sees your file. Submit a few weeks before the deadline. See Applying with NursingCAS.

  5. Spread out your deadlines. Group your programs by month, so you are not finishing several applications the same week.

  6. Confirm every date with the program. Some schools change their deadline during the year. Check each program’s website and sign up for its info sessions.

How Many Nurse Anesthesia Programs Should I Apply To?

Fewer than you might think. In the 2026 SRNA dataset, 95% of current SRNAs applied to 10 or fewer programs, and more than half (55%) applied to three or fewer. Nearly a quarter got in with a single application.

More applications don’t guarantee a seat. A well-matched list does. Apply to as many programs as you can complete well: a few highly competitive programs, several where your GPA, ICU experience and certifications match what they admit, and a few where you exceed their minimums. Not sure which programs belong on your list? The free Top 10 CRNA Schools Database shows the 10 programs that meet all eight of our quality standards, with their deadlines. Questions

CRNA Application Deadlines: FAQ

When are CRNA school application deadlines?

CRNA school deadlines fall in every month of the year. The busiest months are September (24 programs), August (20 programs), December (18 programs). Most programs close applications about 9 months before classes begin, though the gap ranges from 2 to 19 months.

Which CRNA schools have applications open now?

The Open Now section at the top of this page lists every CRNA program accepting applications today, based on today’s date: programs whose application has opened and whose deadline is still ahead, plus the 15 programs with rolling or space-available admissions. It also lists programs whose applications open soon.

When do CRNA school applications open?

Most CRNA applications open three to four months before the deadline, usually about a year before the program starts. August is the most common month for applications to open (20 of the 91 programs that post an opening date), followed by June (10) and March (10). Check each program’s website or the list above for its exact opening date.

When does CRNA school start?

May is the most common start month (56 programs), followed by August (35), January (29), June (19) and September (12). Most programs admit one class a year, so if you miss a deadline you usually wait for the next cycle.

Is CRNA school year-round?

Yes. Nearly every CRNA program is full time and runs year-round, including summers, for about 36 months. Because most programs admit one class a year, application deadlines come once a year too.

How many CRNA schools should I apply to?

Most accepted applicants apply to a focused list. In the 2026 SRNA dataset collected by Greg Olyansky, CRNA, 95% of 96 current SRNAs applied to 10 or fewer programs, more than half applied to three or fewer, and nearly a quarter were accepted after applying to just one. Choose programs that match your GPA, ICU experience and certifications rather than applying everywhere.

How far in advance should I apply to CRNA school?

Plan to apply 12 to 18 months before you want to start. The typical deadline is 9 months before the program begins, and applications usually open about three to four months before the deadline. Many programs review applications and schedule interviews as they arrive, so submitting early helps.

Which CRNA programs have rolling admissions?

15 programs review applications on a rolling basis, either instead of a fixed deadline or after it while seats remain: Albany Medical College & Albany Med Health System, Arkansas State University, Barry University, Drexel University, Hofstra University, Keiser University (Wolford College), Lincoln Memorial University, Midwestern University, National University, Nova Southeastern University, Rocky Vista University, South College, Union University, University of South Florida, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

What is a priority deadline for CRNA school?

A priority deadline is an earlier date that gets your application reviewed first, usually for the first round of interviews. The final deadline is the last day the program accepts applications. 19 programs in the School Finder set a priority deadline. Applying by it gives you the best chance at a seat.

Do all CRNA schools use NursingCAS?

No. 63 of 160 programs in the School Finder use NursingCAS, the centralized nursing application service. The rest take applications directly through their own university portal. NursingCAS has to verify your transcripts before a program sees your application, so submit a few weeks before the deadline.

Why do some deadlines say estimated?

When a program’s deadline has passed and it hasn’t posted next year’s date yet, the page estimates the next deadline from last year’s date. Most programs keep a similar deadline from year to year, so the estimate is a good planning guide, but it is not confirmed. Always check the program’s website before you apply.

How accurate are these deadlines?

Deadlines come from All CRNA Schools’ CRNA School Finder. The date each program was last checked appears under its name, and dates marked estimated are projected from last year’s deadline. Programs sometimes move their deadlines during a cycle, so always confirm the date on the program’s website before you apply.

About this data: deadlines, application opening dates and start terms come from All CRNA Schools’ CRNA School Finder, compiled from each program’s published admissions information. Each program’s entry was last checked between October 2025 and September 2026, and the check date appears under each program. Dates marked “estimated” are projected from the program’s last posted deadline. Always confirm dates with the program. See something out of date? Let us know.
