This CRNA program (as well as all others that are accredited by the COA) prepares you to take the CCNA certification exam at the conclusion of the program, allowing you to become a CRNA.
The Nurse Anesthesia program plans to enroll its first doctoral cohort of students in January, 2022, for 36 months.
Most clinical placements will be within commuting distance from the Harrogate and clinical sites.

CRNA Program Requirements
The following requirements are based on MSN program requirements. Further information regarding the transition to DNP may be obtained by contacting the program at 423-869-6210.
Required Bachelor Degree
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from an accredited school.
RN:
An unencumbered Tennessee RN license by the time of enrollment. You may need licensure in neighboring states including Kentucky, Georgia, Virginia and any other state a clinical practicum is located.
Critical Care:
A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in adult critical care is preferred. Neonatal and pediatric experience will be considered on an individual basis.
They do NOT accept:
- Step Down Unit
- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
- Operating Room
- Emergency Room
GPA:
A strong overall academic record with a cumulative average of “B” (3.0) or better.
Minimum GRE scores:
Competitive GRE scores – on Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing are required
International Students:
If English is not your native language, take the internet version of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (iTOEFL).
These certifications must be current through December of the year you apply:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Undergraduate Course Prerequisites
- Intro to Statistics
- Basic Computer class
- Two chemistry courses, at least one of which has a laboratory component
These classes or their equivalents will satisfy the requirement.
