The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is a front-loaded, 36-month (9 semesters), full-time program which follows a face-to-face curriculum with the aim of making skilled graduate nurse anesthetists.
Classes are organized in such a way that students are on campus more frequently throughout the first year while once clinical practicums begin, the classes are typically held once a week.

Program Requirements

Required Bachelor Degree:
You are required to have a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) accredited by a nationally accredited college.
RN:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license eligible to work in the United States, or its territories/protectorates is required. Prior to applying, at least two (2) years (2000 hours) of clinical experience as an RN is strongly suggested.
Critical Care:
Full-time experience of at least one year or the equivalent hours (2080 hours) if working part-time in a critical care setting. In addition to that, within the two years before applying to the nurse anesthesia specialty, at least one year of professional experience in nursing in critical care (pediatric, adult, or neonatal ICU) is necessary.
GPA:
Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale is required.
GRE scores:
The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required for the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program.
English Language Proficiency:
550 on PBT, 213 on CBT, or 80 on iBT is required on the TOEFL for international applicants.

Courses in Health assessment and Basic statistics with a grade of C or better.
