Master of Science in Nursing with the Specialty of Anesthesia, Post-Master’s Certificate in Anesthesia (entry to CRNA)
The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) requires that all students matriculating into a nurse anesthesia educational program on January 1, 2022 or thereafter be enrolled in a program approved by the COA to award a practice doctoral degree.
As of July 2020, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center Nurse Anesthesia Program has applied to the COA for inactive admission status, it has been approved (effective August 13, 2020).

All materials/applications must be received between April 1st with an August 1st deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The program welcomes applications or inquiries twelve months a year.

CRNA Training
Are you concerned that Our Lady of Lourdes Health System NAP won’t give you the specific experiences or training you need to be a successful CRNA? Learn what standards CRNA Programs must meet in order to be accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia (COA).
This CRNA program (as well as all others that are accredited by the COA) prepares you to take the CCNA certification exam at the conclusion of the program, allowing you to become a CRNA.
OLLMC offers an integrated program, with clinical practicum beginning in the second semester. This allows you to practice your skills early on, giving you a context in which to place your didactic education. The didactic classes are conducted through Drexel University.
“The OLLMC campus is the main principal [clinical] site and high-risk obstetrics. Students will gain experiences in anesthetic management situations not offered at the primary clinical sites by attending off-campus rotations. There are no anesthesia residents at any clinical site utilized by the program.”

CRNA Program Requirements
Required Bachelor Degree
A baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing from an accredited program.
RN:
Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an RN in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey.
Critical Care:
A minimum of two years of current clinical critical care nursing experience. All critical care experience must be as an RN.
Emphasis is placed on knowledge of:
- invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- pharmacological management of vasoactive drugs
- ventilator management
The preferred acute care areas are (in order of preference):
- CVU (Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic unit- Postoperative cardiac patients)
- CCU (Critical Coronary/Cardiac Care)
- SICU (Surgical Intensive Care)
- MICU (Medical Intensive Care)
- NICU ( Neurological Intensive Care)
- PICU/NICU (Pediatric or Neonatal Intensive Care)
- High Acuity Emergency Room (university hospital) may be considered provided that they can demonstrate competence in managing unstable patients, invasive monitoring, ventilators, and critical care pharmacology.
Applicants, whose primary experience is in the Emergency Room, Interventional Radiology, and critical care pharmacology.
GPA:
Cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.2 (on a scale of 4.0). Science courses are very important.
Minimum GRE scores:
GREs are NOT required
International Students:
Graduates of foreign schools must also have satisfactory scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
International students must submit an official copy of the World Education Service (WES) transcripts with the admission application.
International students applying to the program are NOT eligible for an F-1 or J-1 visa to attend the program. International students must have legal residence via TN visa, family sponsorship, or green card/permanent legal resident card.
