Are you concerned that Loma Linda University CRNA Program won’t give you the specific experiences or training you need to be a successful CRNA? Learn what standards CRNA Programs must meet in order to be accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia (COA).
This CRNA program (as well as all others that are accredited by the COA) prepares you to take the CCNA certification exam at the conclusion of the program, allowing you to become a CRNA.
The nurse anesthesia program consists of a didactically front-loaded 39-month graduate curriculum.
The program is fully accredited by the COA as a Distance Education Program and hybrid distance education formats.
The first year of the program is entirely hybrid in design, requiring minimal student on-campus attendance. The remainder of the program follows a more traditional format, utilizing distance education technologies to enhance course effectiveness.
Located across the street from the School of Nursing, the Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) is an approximately 900-bed tertiary-care teaching hospital.
The Medical Center is the site for many of the clinical experiences, internships, and educational opportunities available to students at Loma Linda University.
Clinical rotations at LLU also include the Children’s Hospital, Medical Center East Campus, Heart and the Outpatient Surgical Center.
As a level one regional trauma and health care center, Loma Linda University Medical Center operates some of the largest clinical programs in the United States.
For clinical enrichment, students will rotate at several other local medical centers.

CRNA Program Requirements
Required Bachelor Degree
Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited program.
RN
RN licensure; RN in California before matriculation
Critical Care
Minimum 1 year, full-time adult critical care RN experience (in the U.S.) at time of matriculation (excluding orientation).
A critical care area is defined as one where, on a routine basis, the registered professional nurse manages one or more of the following: invasive hemodynamic monitors (such as pulmonary artery catheter, CVP, arterial); cardiac assist devices; mechanical ventilation; and Neonatal Intensive Care.
Those who have experiences in other areas may be considered provided they can demonstrate competence with managing unstable patients, invasive monitoring, ventilators, and critical care pharmacology.
GPA
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on all undergraduate coursework, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for science prerequisites
GRE
GRE is not required.
TOEFL
International applicants must submit a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 80 (internet-based) on the TOEFL.

- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- *CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) is recommended.
Program Prerequisites
- Shadow a CRNA: An 8-hour clinical observation with a CRNA is recommended. No official documentation required.
- You will have to submit three recommendations, one of those recommendations needs to come from a spiritual advisor or pastor.

Can I work as an RN while I’m in the program?
Due to the rigorous nature of the nurse anesthesia program, employment is discouraged. To promote patient safety and student well being, the student is not permitted to work within ten hours of the start of a clinical shift. The program forbids the employment of students as nurse anesthetists by title or function while enrolled in the program.
If I am accepted into the program, will I be required to make a deposit to hold my position?
Yes. The deposit is $1,000 which will go towards your tuition.
