Are you concerned that University of Detroit Mercy’s Nurse Anesthesia Program won’t give you the specific experiences or training you need to be a successful CRNA? Learn what standards CRNA Programs must meet in order to be accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia (COA).
University of Detroit Mercy’s crna program (as well as all others that are accredited by the COA) prepares you to take the CCNA certification exam at the conclusion of the program, allowing you to become a CRNA.
The program is integrated, meaning that clinical experience is intertwined with didactic learning throughout the majority of the program.
Clinical experience begins your second semester, with 16 scheduled clinical hours a week. In the Summer and Fall Semesters, you’ll spend 24 clinical hours per week. The final 12 months of the program (Winter through Fall Semester), you’ll be spending a total of 32 hours in clinical experience.
This progression of clinical time coincides with increasing levels of responsibility. During Semesters 2-4, you’ll be under close supervision. This will progress to general supervision and finally to minimal guidance towards the end (Semesters 5-7).
