Academic and Clinical Experience

You’ll spend your first year immersed in a heavy load of classes, and enjoying the exceptionally beautiful campus setting.

You’ll and then finish up your education with clinical rotations in both rural and city hospitals. Working 40 hours a week, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to practice regional anesthesia, and gain a variety of experience that will make you a well rounded nurse anesthetist.

Critical Care:
1 year full time Acute Care experience as an RN. Acceptable critical care experience includes:

  • Medical ICU
  • Surgical ICU
  • Neuro ICU
  • Neonatal ICU
  • Pediatric ICU
  • Burn ICU
  • Trauma ICU
  • Cardiac Care Unit
  • Cardiovascular ICU
  • Cardiovascular Recovery
They do not accept:
  • Emergency Department
  • Recovery Room
  • Operating Room

Minimum GPA:
Cumulative 3.0. GPAs are calculated four ways. There is a cumulative calculation, in which all undergraduate college credits are included. The last 60 credits, science and math courses, and graduate courses are also calculated. If a course is taken twice, both grades are included. Grades are not weighted according to pluses and minuses. One individual calculates all the GPAs so there is one standard applied to all applicants.

Minimum GRE scores:
Minimum acceptable combined score is 1000 within the last 5 years.

TOEFL:
International applicants or American citizens who learned English as a second language must score at least 550 (paper), 213 (computer) or 80 (internet).

CRNA Educational Requirements – need to be fairly recent with a “B” or better
