Accredited CRNA Programs are reviewed regularly. Mayo Clinic Minnesota Nurse Anesthetist Program was last reviewed 10/2004. It was given the maximum of 10 years accreditation and will be reviewed again 10/2014. This shows that the program is very stable.
Total Program Time Commitment Plan on spending an average of 60 hours a week dedicated to the program.
Personal Time Off (PTO) 15 vacation days occur during the first 6 months of the program. Reoccurring absences during the first six months may necessitate withdrawal from the program. Total of 36 days PTO are accrued during last 24 months of the program.
During the final 24 months 6 days of PTO per year are used for observed holidays, the remaining 12 days per year can be used for sick or personal leave. PTO during the last 24 months is accrued at the rate of 1.5 days per month. Time must be accrued prior to use. Personal leave must be scheduled with the Nurse Anesthesia program. Additional sick or personal leave may result in program extension.
Holidays Mayo Clinic Minnesota observes the following holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.
Can I work as an RN while I’m in the program? Although outside employment is discouraged, you may seek non-anesthesia employment on a supplemental basis as long as:
it does not interfere with the anesthesia program
your academic and clinical performance is satisfactory
employment does not occur during the eight hours preceding class or clinical assignment
Due to the variable clinical hours employment during the week is very difficult to schedule.
Call Starting with 1st Spring/Summer clinical rotations, approximately twice every three months, students will be assigned to a block of call. Students receive compensatory time off for weekend and holiday call.
