History of Hamot Medical Center School of Anesthesia The CRNA school was founded in 1965.

This CRNA program (as well as all others that are accredited by the COA) prepares you to take the CCNA certification exam at the conclusion of the program, allowing you to become a CRNA.
At this integrated CRNA school, you’ll begin clinical experience in your second semester. Your course work will gradually diminish throughout the program as your clinical hours increase. The program culminates in a research thesis.
There are five clinical affiliate sites: Three in Pennsylvania (Erie, Punxsutawney, and Warren), one in New York and the other in Ohio.

CRNA Program Requirements
Required Bachelor Degree An earned bachelor's degree with a major in nursing.
RN: A current RN license in Pennsylvania
Critical Care: A minimum of one year experience as a registered professional nurse where you’ve developed independent decision making skills, demonstrated psycho motor skills and the ability to use and interpret advanced monitoring based on knowledge of physiology and pharmacological principles.
Acceptable critical care experience includes:
ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
Neonatal ICU
PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit
ER (Emergency Room)
GPA: A minimum 3.0 on the last 60 units of the baccalaureate program.
Minimum GRE scores: Minimum GRE score of 900
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
*CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)
*Recommended, not required
