What they should do is reevaluate the nursing curriculum to actually involve more science training, so that their is no discrepancy or looking down upon nurses having a doctor degree.
I was pre-medicine then went into nursing via a grad entry program and was astonished by how much non science we performed in classes. Nursing school should be primarily normal health-physiology and pharmacology with some pathophys as well.
At the doctorate level train them to be mid level providers, end of story. Comparable to PA and others of the like, end of story.
My opinion would be that nurses take over primary care since many MD don’t want to any longer. This is an opportunity nurses should move forward on.
