CRNA Program Summary
Are you concerned that the Quinnipiac University Nurse Anesthesia Program won’t give you the specific experiences or training you need to be a successful CRNA? Learn what standards CRNA Programs must meet in order to be accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia (COA).
This CRNA program (as well as all others that are accredited by the COA) prepares you to take the CCNA certification exam at the conclusion of the program, allowing you to become a CRNA.
Your first two semesters are entirely in the classroom.
This period is vital, as they teach you everything you need to know about pharmacology, anatomy and chemistry/physics.
During your third semester, you begin clinicals.
Don’t worry though. Before you start on real-live-people, you’ll get to practice on dummies in the sim lab – and all of the anesthesia equipment.
Your fourth semester is all about applying theory to practice. Less class work, more time in clinicals.
The second year is when you get into the more advanced principles. You’ll learn obstetrics, pediatrics and the sim lab.
And if that goes well? You begin your specialty rotations in the hospital setting.
