(Salt Lake City, UT.)
I earned a BSN with a 3.76 GPA from the Denver School of Nursing just over two years ago. They are in the process of obtaining higher levels of accreditation. From their website they are:
“Colorado State Board of Nursing (CBON).
The CBON has granted full approval (Phase IV) to both the ADN and BSN programs. Approval allows graduates to apply to take the licensing exam required for professional practice.
Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
This approval grants the School the authority to award Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in nursing.
Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
This institutional accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. ACCSC recognized Denver School of Nursing as a 2008-2009 ACCSC School of Excellence.
The college is a candidate with The Higher Learning Commission and an affiliate of the North Central Association.
The Associate’s Degree and Baccalaureate Degree nursing programs are candidates for accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.”
I am hopeful to get into a CRNA program fall 2012, as my GRE score (1110) will expire next year; additionally a program will fit into my family life during this time.
If it weighs in, I do have another BS in Exercise Sports Science, from the University of Utah (very accredited, but a 3.2 GPA…and I’m not sure if it is a related enough field).
I have two years experience as a nurse, the last of which has been in the ICU. I will have two years ICU experience by the time a 2012 fall program would begin. I have my ALCS,PALS, TNCC, and working on completing my CCRN.
Is there any hope for Fall 2012? Will my school’s level of accreditation hold me back? What things should I do to ultimately realize my CRNA goal?
Any insight would be very much appreciated, I am swimming here!
