Application Deadline Applications are accepted all year. Interviews are held in January, April, and September/October so be sure to apply early. It takes longer than you think to get all this information submitted, compiled and sent to the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) School of Nursing. Applications must be received and completed eight weeks before intended interview date.

This CRNA program (as well as all others that are accredited by the COA) prepares you to take the CCNA certification exam at the conclusion of the program, allowing you to become a CRNA.
In this mostly front-loaded program, you’ll spend your first year completing the majority of your didactic material.
During your last 15 months, you’ll complete your clinical experience along with the remaining 4 classes, one of which you’ll complete online.
Though the majority of your clinical experience will be obtained at Carolinas Medical Center, there are 6 additional clinical sites within the Carolina’s Healthcare System where you may gain your clinical experience.

CRNA Program Requirements
Required Bachelor Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited nursing program
RN: Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse. Current license in North Carolina or a compact state for the state identified by faculty before enrollment.
Critical Care: A minimum of 18 months current full time critical care experience with adult clients prior to matriculation. You may apply to the program before this experience is complete.
Acceptable critical care experience includes:
Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Surgical ICU
Coronary ICU
Trauma ICU
Cardiac ICU
Neuro ICU
Cardiovascular Recovery Unit

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Emergency Department
Operating Room
Flight Team
Pediatric or Neonatal ICU
GPA: An overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale). A GPA of 3.0 or greater on all completed science courses:
Biology
Anatomy
Physiology
Pathophysiology
Chemistry
Physics
Microbiology
Minimum GRE scores: Scores of 950 or better are preferred. Note that MAT scores are not accepted.
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Course Prerequisite An undergraduate statistics course with a grade of C or greater. You will also be required to write a statement of purpose detailing your objectives and experience in the field in which you wish to specialize.
Accredited CRNA Programs are reviewed regularly. Carolinas Medical Center & UNC Charlotte NC Nurse Anesthetist Program was last reviewed 05/2004.
